Pimple Popping

Acne is the most common skin condition in the U.S. It affects more than 50 million americans a year. Acne can occur at any age and is not limited to teenagers going through puberty. If you notice your skin is feeling oily or starting to break out, see an acne specialist right away! Many types of acne lesions can cause different types of scarring that can take a lot of treatments and procedures to correct. Many aesthetic providers may start with a chemical peel, deep pore cleanse facial, or a blue light therapy to kill acne bacteria and some at home products to help with skin cell turnover and reduce oil. Now, reducing oil doesn’t mean the goal is to put alcohol on the face and dry it out. The idea is not to strip the skin of all oil. This could lead to sensitive skin and further inflammation. Many products that help with acne will be exfoliating and may contain some fruit acids to help decongest the pore. It’s very important to be consistent with the products and follow proper instructions. Some providers will discuss diet and eating habits as this can contribute to problematic skin. Stress and other lifestyle changes may also cause acne flare ups. Also DO NOT pick!! Leave this for the professionals, plus they really like to extract and clean out the pores! Improper extracting could result in spreading the acne and causing deeper lesions and scabs that could lead to discoloration and permanent indentions or holes in the skin.
